A Trendy Style of Landscaping
|
Hello from MHJ Garden Design. For today's topic, we are focusing on the wonderful world of Xeriscaping.
Xeriscape landscaping or, simply, "xeriscaping," by definition is landscaping designed specifically for areas that are susceptible to drought, or for properties where water conservation is practiced. Derived from the Greek xeros meaning "dry," the term means literally "dry landscape."
If you are like me, then maybe only recently have you heard the term xeriscaping. I set out to know more about this style of garden design. And before I knew it, ping! I understood the concept.
Xeriscaping is the art of creating a landscape that lives in harmony with a surrounding dry environment rather than in spite of it, and while you might think this style of gardening involves vast amounts of gravel this is just not true. In the accompanying video I go over the benefits of Xeriscaping, as well as how to plan and implement this particular garden style.
A key feature of Xeriscaping is the very little mowing involved. The only maintenance that will be necessary is some watering, weeding, and pruning. Without the need to fertilize or mow you'll be able to spend less time maintaining your yard and more time enjoying it.
I wish you all the best on this quaint idea. Have a great adventure designing your xeriscape landscape.
That's all for today from MHJ garden Design – see you next time!
